St. Patrick’s Day!

St. Patrick’s Day may fall on a Saturday this year, but it doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate it in the office!

If you’re unfamiliar, the festivities began in Ireland as a celebration for the passing of their most prominent patron saint, Saint Patrick. Nowadays, the celebrations are truly global and always include a lot of green, a lot of laughter, and the occasional green pint.

While green may not be your company colour, and Guinness in March may be hard to come by, taking the afternoon (or a portion of it) off to infuse some St. Patty’s fun is a great way to engage your team.

In the past, our team shared some great ideas and events for reinforcing your culture with a little Irish influence. This year, we wanted to share some social campaign ideas that can be incorporated into Kudos!

Get out and smell the clovers. Crowds can be hard to avoid on St. Pat’s, but with a little planning, or going during the week if the day falls on the weekend, will ensure your whole team can enjoy the celebrations in comfort. Take the team out for some quality time outside of the office, and be sure to capture some snaps for Kudos.

Host a party.  A lunch or an afternoon out can add up, and quickly. Hosting a party at your office can be a fun and more fiscal way to celebrate. Again, be sure to grab some photos! Ideas for your party include making a contest or a scavenger hunt (you know, to find the gold at the end of the rainbow), or highlighting some of this year’s top Kudos before the festivities begin.

Luck of the Irish. Ask colleagues to show how lucky they are by posting pics of themselves in green with the reasons why they feel lucky. Don’t forget to use a trendy hashtag and your best brand standby hashtags, too.

Quiz time. Although many people think they know what St. Patrick’s Day is, few really do! Why not quiz the team about the day, and test their knowledge on Irish pop-culture and history?

To create buzz and remind the team of your plans, in Kudos you can:

  • Create a Page with all the details and broadcast it to the team.
  • Add it to the Events widget so users can see it on the calendar.
  • Create your own Hashtag.  This is a great for pulling reports later, and helps to filter the wall to see all the content your team has created for this occasion.

All these ideas can have a contest attached to them; provide a reward, raffle or giveaway to the best photo, saying, hashtag, or whatever best suits your contest. Enjoy the ‘craic’, and may the luck of the Irish always be with you!
